  • Res Artis Symposium in Cairo

    Townhouse Gallery & Fonds BKVB

    Cairo, Egypt
    March 25-27, 2009

The Cairo-based Townhouse Gallery and the Dutch Fonds BKVB (Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture), in collaboration with Res Artis, organized this event inspired by the increased interest in artist mobility between Europe and the Mediterranean region, the Middle-East, and Africa, as well as by the upcoming initiatives in the region. The symposium focused on the main goals and challenges of artist mobility in connection to residencies: managing expectations (pre-residency dialogue and negotiations), the role of the host institution as facilitator and presenter of the visiting artist, methods of evaluating of residencies and the post-residency period. ACSl was an invited participant.
